Drama for English Teachers

E-mail Print

This 12-hour course is suitable for English language teachers working in both the ilköğretim and lise contexts, and some of the activities are suitable for adult learners too. The course is delivered in four sessions and demonstrates the practical application of drama techniques in the language teaching classroom.

What is Drama exactly?

This session looks at how we define the word 'drama'. Drama does not just refer to plays and theatre; it incorporates important techniques, which can be used for confidence-building, concentration and classroom management.

Why do we use it?

In this session we examine the rationale for drama activities by paying particular attention to some of the points mentioned above and other areas such as pronunciation and verbal expression.

Applications of Drama in Whole-Brained Teaching and Learning

Here we look into the role of NLP in language learning, focussing on the area of left and right-brained learning and the relevance of drama activities in assisting learning for all ages.

Applications of Drama for Integrated Skills

In this session a variety of activities will be demonstrated and their classroom suitability will be reviewed in this session.

This is a very practical course and you will experience a selection of activities in each session. We hope that you will feel free to comment on them in the light of your own teaching contexts.
