Train the trainer

This course is designed for experienced teachers who wish to move into the area of teacher training. It is particularly suitable for heads of department, senior teachers or experienced teachers who may be asked to contribute to in-service teacher development in their institutions. In fact anyone who is expected to deliver seminars or workshops or observe teachers will find this course useful.
Participants must have a minimum of three years’teaching experience , but no previous experience of teacher training is necessary

Please note that this is not a course for acquiring teaching ideas. This is a course for those genuinely interested in teacher education and development.
There will be a maximum of ten participants on the course.
The course will contain some or all of the following components:
• Introduction to teacher training – what goes into a training session
• Trainer Styles and Types, Group Dynamics and Trouble-shooting
• Training Methods and Approaches
• Active Listening and Giving Feedback
• Micro-Training which will be recorded on video and Feedback
• Planning a session – how to make the best of materials and resources
• Handling Resistance
• Micro-training – 30 minutes each
• Micro-training – 30 minutes each
• Course design, Evaluating and ending courses
The course will be assessed accordingly:
• One 10-minute micro-training session (recorded on video)
• One 30-minute micro-training session
• One written session plan (to be submitted on the last day)

Time/Day: Thursdays 17.00 – 20.00
Course Duration: 10 weeks
Course Fee: 500 YTL
