Technology in Language E-ducation – NEW COURSE

“E-Learning” is a misnomer – it’s mostly just “E-Teaching.” For any teaching to reliably and consistently produce the results we want, we still have a lot to learn about learning. Now, a second generation of applications, known as Web 2.0, is here. Just like any new tool, these Web 2.0 applications pose a new challenge, especially to teachers.
This 12-hour course is focused on the understanding and practical application of the new technologies, personal learning environments and social software known as Web 2.0 such as blogs, collaborative wikis, shared bookmarking, RSS and many more to create new cultures of learning and teaching at schools. It should be a comfortable place for teachers, educators, trainers and consultants at any level of familiarity with technology and Web 2.0 tools.

Areas to be covered include:
• Exploring the big apple byte by byte: Getting the most of Web 2.0 tools for our classes and for professional development.
• Integrating technology into our teaching and learning: Using technology to tell digital stories.
• E-teaching is e-learning: Personal blogs and collaborative wikis as personal learning
environments and how to adapt them in our teaching.
• To be “e” or not to be “e”: E-portfolios for students and teachers.
